What a fun day we had celebrating our 5th graders! Students taught science lessons and worked to complete their math games.
Tomorrow, we are looking forward to our Learning Celebration. I can't wait to see the projects about your families. Thank you so much for encouraging your child to participate. If you are planning to send food, you may send it in the morning with your child, or deliver it to school. If you send it between 11:45 and 12:15, that will help with our preparation.
Don't forget to return your library books and we hope you can join us for our last village gathering on Friday at 8:30 in the multi-purpose room.
Tomorrow is Wacky Tacky Day!

Happy Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed your long weekend.
We had a great start to our last week of school! Students worked in our school garden. They followed recipes to make salad dressing, and harvested lettuce and turnips. We were all able to taste the dressings with the lettuce and turnips and vote for our favorite.
Congratulations to Teagan and Maren! These girls took action, sending a letter and signed petition to President Barak Obama, and they received a reply from him!! We are so proud of you!
We are excited about tomorrow! It is "Dress Your Best Day" as we celebrate our F.AVE 5th graders. Please dress nicely. Also, some students ordered sack lunches for tomorrow. If not, they will need to bring their lunch.
Thank you for returning your library books on time. If your child has any books at home, please return them or the money asap.

We had a great Thursday!
We read a nonfiction book about the life of Harriet Tubman and worked to make inferences along the way. We discussed what students admire about Harriet Tubman, and how we can use her actions to help us in our own lives today. We also enjoyed some read aloud time outside.
We completed our field day t-shirts!! I will wash them again this evening. They will be ready for students to put on when they arrive to school in the morning.
Appropriate shoes are required for field day tomorrow. No flip flops, sandals, or crocs. For safety reasons, students who do not wear appropriate shoes will not be allowed to participate in field day activities.
Students should bring water bottles with them tomorrow. They will want them as we will be gone from the AVE all morning.
I am very excited about having a wonderful day tomorrow!

Happy 1st day of May!
We had a busy morning!
We read the book Thundercakes discussed the story's plot. Students inferred important lessons from the story.
We continued to work on our personal narratives. Students worked to choose a belief that they have and write a narrative about how they came to believe this idea. It is a challenging task, but the class is doing well.
Students worked to look at women's suffrage from around the world by completing an online scavenger hunt. Ask your child to tell you more!
We also worked to decide on our learner profile trait for field day. We selected caring and the trait that best describes our class. Students are challenged to come up with a mascot and a theme for our caring class. It should represent our class as a whole. Funny slogans are great! We want them to make sense.
