Monday, May 8th

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Students in Genius Hour groups began creating products and advertisements today.  Our store day will be on Monday, May 15th. We are very excited about this store day.  We will be raising money to donate to a charity that will be decided upon by our Genius Hour group.

Students completed MAP Math testing today.  Those who are not quite finished will have time to complete their test either this week, or next week.  We will have MAP Reading tomorrow at 10, and MAP Language Wednesday at 10.

Students began working on their posters for their College of choice.  We are excited to have a our college fair next week.

A note from Ms. Newton:
Special Note:  We got a report that several students were involved in some misconduct at Dollar Tree this past Friday.  We will be speaking with students and encouraging them to not stop at Oakhurst Market after school, but to go directly home and return with an adult if they'd like to purchase things.  Unfortunately, we can't monitor the things that occur at local businesses, but will continue to reinforce positive behavior and respectful interactions to and from school. If your child is stopping at the local business in the area, I would encourage you to speak with them and monitor what is happening very closely.

See you tomorrow!

Thursday, May the 4h Be With You

Happy Star Wars Day!

We have had a wonderful week!

Congratulations to Lily S.!  She is our class elected Superstar of the Month for April.  We are so proud of you!
We enjoyed an author visit yesterday from Gail Carson Levine, author of Ella Enchanted.  She was lovely and answered so many questions about her becomes and her journey to becoming a published writer.

We've had numerous 3rd graders visit our room.  They have been so well behaved and our kids have helped to give tours and show them what 4th grade at F.AVE looks like.

Our Star Wars day was a success!  From acrostic poems, Star Wars multiplication and division puzzles, grammar review with Star Wars Mad Libs, and Star Wars emoji stories, the class had a fun day celebrating!

We are thrilled to have chosen our team name and slogan for Field Day!  The theme is superheroes, so we will be Captain Sanders (like Captain America).  Our Superhero creed is We unite when the Risk-takers fight!  Students should come with with a sketch for the t-shirt design tonight.  We will create the final pieces during class tomorrow!  Please continue to send in your white shirts!

MAP testing will be next Monday at 9:00, and next Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:00.  We will be testing in the classroom on our iPads.

Thank you so much the sweet treats, baked goods, apple related items, and flowers!  You have made me feel more than appreciated.  I appreciate you all as well and all of your support this school year!

Check out the Upcoming Events sections of the blog for an updated schedule for May!
See you tomorrow!
