Today was a wonderful day of inquiry and reflection.
Our first Sanders' Superstar of the month award was given today. The students voted on the classmate that they believe demonstrated our essential agreements throughout the month of August.
Congratulations Talia!!!
Students worked hard on using rounding and estimation to determine if another student solved their problem correctly. Below are some pictures of our students having fun working with our number of the day.
We completed an inquiry cycle after Math. Students were put into groups and each group was a Native American tribe. Tribes were given a list of resources available to them. After creating a tribe name, group members generated a list of ways to utilize their resource for survival. They didn't expect that after they were utilizing their resources I was going to come and take some resources away. Each tribe then decided upon a communicator. The communicator would go to the other tribes and trade items that they have for items that they might need for survival. It was a great experience for all!
We had some UOI reflection time. Students completed reflection sheets about the UOI, how they utilized their learner profile traits, what they did wonderfully, and what they want to work on for next time. Students then completed an interview with a partner and recorded a short video about their UOI experience.
And as always, we had a lovely day on the playground.
I am so proud of the hard work from this term! We had a celebratory cupcake at the end of the day. Enjoy your Fall break! I will miss you all. See you on September 16th!!
