Monday, March 7th

Welcome back!

I hope you had a restful weekend and were able to enjoy the beautiful weather.
Congratulations to Gracie! She is our class elected Superstar of the Month for February! We are so proud of you!

We continued our inquiry into decimals by making the connection between tenths and hundredths.  We utilized our prior knowledge of meters and centimeters to represent 1/10 is equal to 10/100.

Students are working to create advertisements both for and against the Annexation of Texas.  Students are utilizing the knowledge gained during their inquiry to represent both sides of the argument and connect it to our lines of inquiry.
We continue to inquire into nonfiction reading strategies.  Students utilized a passage about the Texas Revolution to determine the main idea of the paragraphs, provide evidence for text structure, and respond to questions.

Lice Update
We continue to monitor the lice in our classroom.  We have had some new cases arise in students who had been previously checked and were clear.  Please continue to check and recheck your children every couple of days, and notify me and Ms. Ehmer if you find lice.  The more we work together to check and report, the quicker that we can rid our classroom of the lice.  Thank you so much!

Tour Decatur
Friday night is the Tour Decatur Expo.  Please come and celebrate!!!  At 7:00, many F.AVE teachers (include ME!!) are volunteering to receive a pie in the face.  You could have the chance to throw a pie at me or one of our other amazing teachers!  I hope to see you there!

We will continue to collect Pennies for Patients donations for the next two weeks, so keep collecting!  Thank you so much!!
