I am so happy to be back at school! Students worked in Math stations today. They were using a variety of activities and games to support previously learned standards and equivalent fractions. When students come to my group we are learning how to play fraction dominoes. I met with a couple of groups today and we will continue tomorrow.
We also began some exploration of the properties of light. We used a light bulb to explore different objects and determine if they were opaque, transparent, or translucent. Students used their findings to create definitions for these words. We also explored mirrors and prisms. Students were able to create a definition of refraction and reflection after using these tools.
We continued working on our opinion writing today. Students explored goals and expectations for their pieces. They found what they did well and set some goals to work on. They brought home a piece to work on and review for homework tonight. Ask them to share some of their goals with you.
Chaperones needed: Next Wednesday, November 13th we will be going on a walking field trip to the Agnes Scott Planetarium. I am looking for one or two chaperones. Please e-mail me if you are interested. csanders@csdecatur.net
Homework: Read for 30 minutes, Math problem, Finish I love ice cream draft. Reread it. Use stars to identify places where you tried to meet your goals. Use fireworks in places that were tough. Be prepared to share with your partner tomorrow.
