Friday, September 2nd

Happy Friday!

I had a great day of planning and preparing for term 2 along with members of the 4th grade team yesterday.  The Superstars got a great report from our sub!!

Today was a great celebration of reading!  I loved all of the costumes!  We enjoyed celebrating books and even had Mrs. Crooks join us as a guest reader!  Thank you for coming!

Students excitedly received their F.AVE t-shirts today.  Thank you so much to our PTO for providing them for each and every 4th grader!

And, of course, we had a wonderful visit from author Nathan Hale.  He was hysterical and had us all laughing about westward expansion and the Louisiana Purchase.  Ask your child to tell you more!!

Weekly Recap:
Students continued their personal narratives.  They are working to organize and add details following the plot arc.  They have incorporated a variety of different descriptions of the setting and are adding to the drafts through Google Classroom.

We are completing our inquiries into Native American Tribes and Ecosystems.

We are exploring different ways to model addition and subtraction using the standard algorithm when completing word problems.

Next Week:
Tuesday - Spelling Test (we ran out of time today), work in the school garden
Wednesday - Zoo field trip
Thursday - Media Center Visit
Thursday and Friday - Ecosystems and Native Americans Assessments.  See attached Study Guides, which will also come home on Tuesday.
