Happy Friday everyone!
Our day started in a wonderful way with short presentations from some of our classmates. Students shared money from different countries and a special compass that has been passed down from generation to generation. It was a fantastic discussion and link to our UOI about new discoveries, reasons for exploration, and perspectives from new discoveries.
We continued our work with division today. Students worked with larger division problems and learned the partial quotients strategy to solve these equations. We will continue working with division next week. Students will receive division homework next week after having more practice time in class.
We dove deeper into our study of the 13 colonies. We utilized an organizer to determine specific characteristics of the New England, Middle, and Southern colonies. We learned about the government, religion, resources, occupations, and geography of the New England region today. We will continue our research on Monday.
During writing time today, we worked to add dialogue to our personal narratives. Students then returned to a published piece and completed revising to add dialogue.
Thank you so much for your continued support at home! Remember that fluency with math facts is incredibly important and will assist your child greatly during class. Students should be fluent in addition, subtraction, and multiplication. This is a great activity to practice at home. Don't forget that students can go onto xtramath.org from home to practice speed activities.
Have a great weekend!!
Homework: Read for 30 minutes, practice multiplication facts
