Wednesday, October 2nd

We're halfway through the week and working so hard.

Congratulations to our 2nd class elected Superstar of the month for September!!  Way to go Mazzy!!!

Math, math, math!!!!  Multiplication strategies have been challenging.  I am posting pictures of three different ways to solve multiplication problems.  We are learning about these strategies in class.  I will also post three quick codes for learnzillion.com.  I hope that you find these resources useful as you practice homework tonight and in the future.  The pictures will be in a separate post labeled Math Examples.  I will continue to post new examples in this post.  You can click the math examples post at any time to find the sample problems.

Learnzillion Quick Codes:
LZ22 - Works to solve 2 digit multiplication using partial products method
LZ24 - Works to solve multiplication using area arrays
LZ1877 - Works to solve multiplication of a 3 digit number by a 1 digit number using the area model

We have finished our explorer presentations.  It is likely that our summative assessment will be on Monday.  I have a few more explorer activities for us to complete this week.

Keep on reading and summarizing at home.  Remember the summarizing strategy:  Somebody, wanted, but, so, then.  Ask your child to summarize their reading using this strategy and also ask them what they believe the overall theme (lesson) is of their reading.  They must give you evidence from the text that supports their answer.

Homework: Read for 30 minutes, Spelling, Math Practice
