Thursday, October 18th

What a nice day we had!
We began our discussion of the position of the Earth and moon.  We reflected on rotation and what causes day and night.  Students created illustrations to model day and night in their Science journals.

We took the Nagliere Nonverbal Assessment today.  Our class received numerous compliments for their behavior before, during, and after their assessment.  Way to go Superstars!!!

We took another look at inferencing today.  Students analyzed a picture of a skyscraper to determine what they could infer and why.  Ask your child to tell you their inference and support.

Homework: Read for 30 minutes, Study for spelling test - spelling contract is due tomorrow.

Looking ahead....
Tomorrow, students will be taking their summative assessment piece on division and word problems.  Please review this information tonight.  Students will also be given their spelling assessment.

On Monday, we are thrilled to have author Lemony Snicket visiting our school.  I hope the students are as excited as I am.  We will be exploring his work tomorrow.  Be ready for a great surprise when you arrive to school on Monday..... :)

Thank you to all who have volunteered to chaperone our field trip next week.  We now have enough volunteers.  If you will be joining us and you have not already signed a chaperone form, I will be sending those home tomorrow.  Please return them on Monday, along with your $10 (if you haven't already sent it).
