Wednesday, January 28th

We're midway through our week, and we are on a roll!

Our work with fractions continues as we apply our understanding to solve word problems.  Students utilized models, words, and equations to explain their thinking when solving multi-step fraction word problems.  After some review tomorrow, we should be prepared for our first assessment on Friday.

We had a fun, and noisy, lesson on sound with Ms. Theisen.  We inquired into frequency and amplitude and their affects on sound ways.  Students utilized http://phet.colorado.edu/ to play with sound simulations and record their findings.  Ask your child to tell you more...or maybe show you with the link above!

We inquired into the ideas and beliefs expressed by Americans in the Preamble to the Constitution.  Students explored a particular line of the Preamble for ideas and beliefs and used drawing to express those ideas.  We pieced our Preamble together, and it looks wonderful hanging over our United States map!

Thank you for returning your field trip forms!  We have them all and are very excited for this opportunity!

Students should study for their light assessment tomorrow using the study guide that was sent home.  If it has been misplace, you may find it by clicking the link to the 4th grade website and looking under the study guides tab.

We are excited to welcome IB Schools from all over the State of Georgia to F.AVE tomorrow.  They will be visiting our classroom and many others during their time at F.AVE to witness the great work our children do every day and experience IB in action.

Have a great night!
