Happy Wednesday!
Our day was filled with exploring our new Unit of Inquiry (How We Express Ourselves) and our new Central Idea (Insight into beliefs and ideas can be gained by observing the many ways in which they are expressed). This is the central focus connected to our standards for term 4. Our class did an excellent job of dissecting our central idea to better understand its meaning.
We were able to explore the school and the area just outside the school to look for and take pictures of different forms of expression. Students took pictures of anything from artwork, to mailboxes, to bike racks, and even a garbage truck. They worked together to decide what ideas and beliefs these forms of expression show.
We then began to look at different ways that our country and state express their ideas and beliefs. Students inquired into the Seal of the United States and the Seal of Georgia to look for meaning in the symbols, pictures, words, and colors. They then began working to create a seal for our classroom. Ask your child to tell you more!
We have a busy two days ahead, including our Village Gathering on Friday at 8:45. We hope to see you then!
Have a great evening!
